Moreover, external influence includes PEST analysis and Porters Five Forces. Follow the task 2 is discussed about global political change influences on policies and decision-making and the effectiveness of Tesco. Lastly, is discussed about the improvement of Tesco. 1.1 Background of company Tesco is the largest retailer in the UK and is the third largest retailer in the world. Tesco operation in 14 countries and have 470,000 employees in the worlds. (Tesco corporate responsibility report, 2009) Tesco establish in 1932 by Jack Cohen in the UK. In 1974, Tesco open the first petrol station. In 2000, Tesco.com is established and Tesco sell the product through the internet. (Tesco plc, 2009) Now Tesco has become a successful online retailer. Tesco provide a lot of products and services to the customers such as food product, non-food product, finance services, insurances services, mobile services and so on. (Tesco corporate responsibility report, 2009) 2.0 Internal Influences 2.1 Training and development Training and development * Establish Tesco Academy * Provide training to employees and managers * Examples: 1) Introduction training one day long training new employee must participate in this training (Laszlo Gulyas, n.d.) 2) Multi skills training learn different skills in the different position (Laszlo Gulyas, n.d.) 3) Technical training learn about technical capability in the organization (Tesco Plc, 2010) 4) Behavioral training learn about team work, communication and personality development ( Tesco Plc, 2010) 5) Other training Examples: elevator-operator training, hygiene training, barrowman training, inventory training and so on. (Laszlo Gulyas, n.d.) * Also got provide personal development plan * Employees will works across different areas of stores, to learn different skills and get more experiences * Using 360-degree appraisal (The Times 100, 2010) Table 2.1: Training and development 2.1.1Responses on the training and development Tesco provide a good training and development to their employees. Tesco establish a Tesco Academy for their employees to training. It also provides a lot of program for employees to join such as higher education program is to help employees to get the certifications. Through the training, it improves work efficiency of each employee. Besides that, Tesco using 360-degree appraisal, to make sure the training provided to the employees is efficient. The training provide by Tesco is not only for improved the present job it also for employees to prepare for their future job. Tesco can become a largest UK retailer because they have a group of efficient employees. 2.2 Organization Structure Organization Structure * Decentralized structure (Hedgehog, n.d.) * Hierarchical structure- is very easy to understand the structure -simple structure let employee easily to see who is in charge in each department (Hedgehog, n.d.) * Provide six works level to the employees (The Times 100, 2010) Table 2.2: Organization structure 2.2.1 Responses on the organization structure Tesco is a decentralized structure company. The decentralized structure are very effective because is able for store manager to make the decision. An example, the store manager is more understand the environment working; they can make an effective decision rather than top manager. Next, provide an opportunity for store manager to make decision is also a motivation for employee to work. Decentralized structure also can decrease red tape problem in Tesco. The hierarchical structure shows a very clear and the employees are easily to see who is in charge person. Besides that, there are six work levels in the Tesco. Each level requires specific skills from the employees. The purpose of this six work levels is want the employees to understand what kinds of skills they need. Tesco provide a very clear structure for employees to know what they should do in organization. Employees more understand their roles it can help to improve their works efficiency. A good and clear organization structur e can help Tesco growth rapidly. 2.3 Leadership Leadership à · Sir Terry Leahy, CEO at Tesco * He is a marketing genius, clear thinker and good listener * Global recession, sales of Tesco still growth * Tesco employee said that, he is a good boss to work for. He give reward to the employee who performance well. * The Tesco employee said that, ââ¬Å" he never loses his temper or raises his voiceâ⬠* Sir Terry Leahy says: ââ¬Å"I believe a lot in people. I believe a lot in the potential of people. So, I have never lost that belief that people are capable of incredible things if you give them the confidence and opportunityâ⬠. ( Paul Vallely, 2009) * He chosen as Britains ââ¬Å"Business Leader of the Yearâ⬠in 2003 * He selected as most admired business leader by Management Today in 2005 * He selected as the most influential non-elected person in Britain in 2007 (Lancaster University, 2008) Table 2.3: Leadership 2.3.1 Responses on the leadership Sir Terry Leahy is a CEO of Tesco. The main reason Tesco can become the third largest food retailer in the whole world is because Tesco has a good leader. Sir Terry Leahy is a good business leader. Sir Terry Leahy is a good business leader, he was very power on promote potential employee. He believe that every person have their own strength, just waiting an opportunity for them to performance. Furthermore, he is a friendly person. He does not think he is a CEO; he will take lunch with colleague in the Tesco canteen. Next, when he goes to watch the football he does not sit in the director place, he will sit with the football fans. (Paul Vallely, 2009) He is a high EQ person; he does not lose his temper to their employees. According to the Douglas McGregor Theory X and Theory Y, Sir Terry Leahy is a theory Y manager. Theory Y manager believe that employee in the right conditions will be work hard and also will increase the output. (Richard M. Hodgetts, et al., 2006, p.g399) By and larg e, leader is an important role in the company, it can influencing a company activities and employees performance. A good leader can lead a company to achieve a goal. Tesco can become successful is because they have a smart leader. 2.4 Product and services Product and services à · Food product: vegetables, fish, canned goods and etc. à · Non-food product: clothing, electronic product, stationery and so on. à · Electronic product produced by Tesco- Technika * Banking services- Tesco Bank * Insurances services, mobile services, petrol station, online sales and etc. * Tesco Clubcard (Wikepedia, 2010) Table 2.4: Product and services 2.4.1 Responses on the product and services Tesco sells a lot of food product, non-food product and services to the consumers. Tesco Clubcard is one of the services provide by Tesco to retain and attract customers. Tesco Clubcard holders can get the points when they purchase in Tesco. After collect enough points, consumers can use these points to exchange the Tesco voucher. In addition that, Tesco also sell the product through the internet, all the products are available on the internet in 24 hours. Tesco not only just focus on sells food products, it also has many other business such as banking, insurances, mobile services and so on. Although global recession but the sales of Tesco still increase because consumers are satisfied the product and services provide by Tesco. 3.0 External influences 3.1 PEST Analysis PEST analysis are stands for political, economic, social-cultural and technology. PEST analysis is used to look at the environment before start the business. In the following part, I will use PEST analysis to analyze the China market. 3.1.1 Political Political * China is a totalitarian government * In 17 September 2001, China has entered to World Trade Organization (WTO) (World Trade Organization, 2001) * China have a serious problem on human right issues -Death penalty, in 2008, China has the highest number of death penalty which is 1718 (Amnesty International, 2009) -One child policy-according to BBC News (2000), China introduces one-child policy to control population. * China has serious problem on corruption -According to the Global Competitiveness report (2009), the corruption problem rank numbers six in the China. -China gets 3.6 points, which 0 represent the most corrupt country. (Transparency International, 2009) Table 3.1.1: Political 3.1.1.1. Responses on the political China has inefficient government bureaucracy, it create red tape and corruption problem. A country has a serious corruption incident will affect poverty and income inequality by reducing economic growth and investors will lose of interest invest in the country. Red tape also effect all the process cannot run smoothly and every decision need to take a long time to getting approval. In the 21st century, government should respect the human right and must reduce the death penalty without conviction. As conclude, China government should reorganize the bureaucracy then the country will become more developed and prosperous. 3.1.2 Economic Economic * China economic growth rapidly * China every year increasing in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) * In 2007, the GDP of China was 33,535.3 billion yuan and raise 8.7 over the 2008. The GDP, 2005-2009 graphs shows it in appendix. (National Bureau of Statistics of China, 2010) * 779.95 million people employed in China, 5.15 million more than 2008. (National Bureau of Statistics of China, 2010) * Net income per capital of China urban raised 9.8% than 2008 and income per capital of rural raised 8.5% (National Bureau of Statistics of China, 2010) Table: 3.1.2 Economic 3.1.2.1 Responses on the economic China has become a populous country and it is one of the most important countries for economy power. A lot of people said that, a company does not doing business with China is not consider as the developed company. Hence, China has become receiving most foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world. This proves that, China has become a powerful country. The economy of China has growth rapidly, the residents have earned more money and it also improves their standard of living. I believed that after the ten years, China will surpass the United Stated and become the largest and powerful economy in the world. 3.1.3 Social-cultural Social-cultural à · China has more than 1.3 billion people à · People Daily Online (2007) mention that China has 37 million more males than females because Chinese people traditional minds to prefer a boy. à · China has various regions such as Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christian and so on. à · Most of the people speak Mandarin à · Important business culture: ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠à · ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠means good connection and good relationship with business partners. (Richard M. Hodgetts, et al., 2006, p.g.141) à · In a survey of 2000 people, 92% agree that ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠play an important role in the daily life. (Rosalie L. Tung, 1996, p.g.239) à · Can send the gifts to business partners or government officials on festival such as Chinese New Year. Table 3.1.3: Social-cultural 3.1.3.1 Responses on the social-cultural China has more than 1.3 billion people and it is a very complicated country for the westerners. China has thousands years of history, it has a lot of culture and this is hard to understand by foreigners. For doing business in China, at least one of the investor must know how to speak in mandarin. Another important business culture that investors have to be aware is ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠. ââ¬Å"Guanxiâ⬠means good connection with business partners. (Richard M. Hodgetts, et al., 2006, p.g.141) In western perspective, ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠means of bribery but this is very important business culture in China. Investors have a good relationship with people, the business can be more successful and it also can minimize the risks when doing business. Although we understand that ââ¬Å"guanxiâ⬠is not a good behavior but we still need to follow their business culture because Chinese people got one famous dictum that is ââ¬Å" Ru Jing Sui Suâ⬠, means every person go to a new en vironment, must follow their culture. 3.1.4 Technology Technology à · China has become the second largest online population after United States. (Mark Ward, 2005) à · According to Internet World Stats (2010), in 2009, internet user was increase 9.7% over previous years. The table of internet usage and population statistics in China shows it in appendix. à · Chinese people reject to use online for purchasing and payment because of worry about security. à · The China Market Research Group (CMR) has interviewed 500 young people, 80% people said that they have made online purchasing and they will purchase again in the future. (Shaun Rein, 2008) à · In 2009, China government spending US$78.3bn on improve technology to create a good technology environment. (Research and markets, 2010) Table 3.1.4: Technology 3.1.4.1 Responses on the technology Although the report shows that China people satisfied with online purchasing and payment but I believed that still a lot of people worry about the security on payment and purchasing. Making e-business in China seems to be challenge for the investors. China government already spends a lot of money to improve the technology, after few years, China will become a potential country for doing e-business. 3.2 Porters Five Forces According to businessballs.com (2009), Porters five forces model provide ââ¬Å"a simple perspective for assessing and analyzing the competitive strength and position of a corporation or business organization.â⬠Porters five forces include the degree of rivalry, threats of new entrants, threats of substitutes, buyer power and supplier power. In this part, I will use Porters five forces to analyze the China market. 3.2.1 Degree of rivalry Degree of rivalry Local competitors * LianHua supermarket * More than 3870 supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience store * The largest store in China * Strong competitors of Tesco (Yahoo Finance, 2010) Another strong local competitors * Hualian hypermarket * Wumart * Wuhan Zhunghai (Jean Kinsey and Min Xue, 2005) Foreign competitors * Carrefour -in 1995 moving to China -Carrefour as the largest foreign retailer in China -more than 345 stores * Wal-Mart -in 1996 moving to China * Metro -in 1996 moving to China (Jean Kinsey and Min Xue, 2005) Table 3.2.1: Degree of rivalry 3.2.1.1 Responses on the degree of rivalry Tesco has a lot of strong competitors in China such as LianHua supermarket, Hualian hypermarket Carrefour, Wal-Mart and so on. Tesco is hard to compete with them. One of the reasons is LianHua and Hualian is a local supermarket, its have a lot of knowledge about the Chinese consumers needs and the culture in China. Secondly, Carrefour, Wal-Mart and Metro have more than 10 years experience in China market. They are more understood the culture and customer needs rather than Tesco. Thirdly, Carrefour and Wal-Mart have more than 10 years in China; consumers are ready to accept them. Tesco is a new store in China; the consumers may take some time to accept the Tesco. Furthermore, the local competitors are very smart, they are very fast to copy the successful strategies from others companies and using this strategies to run their business. As conclude, Tesco has very tough competitors in China and they still got a long way to pay the effort to understand the China market and improve their marketing strategies. 3.2.2 Threat of new entrants Thereat of new entrants à · China is an attractive market for investors to enter à · Low barriers to enter. à · China government should set the block, control the foreign competitors enter. Table 3.2.2: Threat of new entrants 3.2.2.1 Responses on threat of new entrants After China join the WTO, the China become open market for foreign company. The foreign companies are very easier entering to China market. China government encourage foreign supermarket enter to China because it can provide a lot of job opportunities to the people. More people get the job it can improve the standard living and economic in China. China is look like gold-mine for investors, so it keep more foreign supermarket enter and it create a price war problem. Hence, the China government should set the block to control the foreign competitors enter. 3.2.3 Threats of substitute concepts Threats of substitute concepts * E-shopping -convenience, efficient, faster and available in 24 hours * Roadside market -consumer can bargaining the price of product * 7-eleven -convenience and available in 24 hours * Wet market -consumers can bargaining the price -consumers enjoy in the bargaining process especially old people -human contact Table 3.2.3: Threats of substitute concepts 3.2.3.1 Responses on threats of substitute concepts E-shopping, roadside market, 7-eleven and wet market is the substitute of Tesco. Now are more people prefer e-shopping because it save time, convenience and flexible. It just simply click the mouse, the product will delivered to our house. For the old people, they more prefer go to roadside and wet market. They like have a human contact with the owner of the stores. They also can bargain the price of product in the roadside and wet market and they enjoy the bargaining process. Moreover, 7-eleven also can consider as the substitute of Tesco. 7-eleven operate 24 hours, consumers can purchase the product in anytime they like. Even though roadside and wet market is the substitute of Tesco but I believe that in the future Tesco will replace the roadside and wet market. 3.2.4 Buyer power Buyer power à · Improve on standard living, increase in purchasing power and more people prefer go to supermarket. à · China ranks number two in buying power. (Tim Ahmann, 2008) à · More people prefer quality product à · China people prefer to buy a foreign product rather than local product. (K M Rehan Salahuddin, 2009) Table 3.2.4: Buyer power 3.2.4.1 Responses on buyer power China has huge populations that are over 1.3 billion people. Just imagine that, if every family go to Tesco purchase the product, Tesco can earn a lot of profits. Furthermore, the economics of China growth rapidly it has lead to increase the standard of living for the Chinese people and also affect them prefer go to supermarket rather than roadside and wet market. In the present time, Chinese people have more demanding on foreign and quality product. It is because they started aware on the quality of product, the customer services, the warranty and after sales services. Thus, the buyer power in China is very high. 3.2.5 Supplier power Supplier power * Difficult for small farmers to produce a large quantities and high quality crops. * Supplier powers are very low. (Jean Kinsey and Min Xue, 2005) Table 3.2.5: Supplier power 3.2.5.1 Responses on supplier power In China, the small farmers are difficult supply a large quantities crops to the market. Besides that, government prevents farmer over produce and the farmers just can cultivates about one hectare. (Jean Kinsey and Min Xue, 2005) Although the bargaining suppliers are low in China but Tesco has a good supply chain and they still can get the crops they want. Appendix YEAR Users Population % Pen. Justice in William Shakespeares King Lear Essay -- William Shakespear
Justice in William Shakespeare's King Lear The question of the origin of true, virtuous, and impartial justice has plagued mankind over the millennia and continues to do so today. In Shakespeareââ¬â¢s King Lear two potential forms of justice predominate: human examination through trial and divine supernatural recourse. Both systems emerge fundamentally flawed in practice, however, and by the end of the play a world of unjust chaos reigns supreme. Over the course of three ââ¬Å"trials,â⬠Learââ¬â¢s daughters competing for his love, the blinding of Gloucester by Cornwall and Regan, and Learââ¬â¢s imagined cross-examination of Goneril and Regan, Shakespeare strikingly illustrates the concept that human justice is essentially blind and the maintenance of faith in the divine intervention of the goods is hopeless naà ¯vetà ©. Manââ¬â¢s justice is profoundly corrupted by the imperfection of human nature and shrouded by the inherent vices of avarice and jealousy. The theme of flawed justice arising from defective character is demonstrated from the very outset of the play with King Learââ¬â¢s demand that his three daughters compete for his love and estate. Certainly, any father that actively encourages sibling rivalry and so clearly plays favorites, as shown when he laments over Cordelia ââ¬Å"I loved her most and thought to set my rest / on her kind nurseryâ⬠(1.1.137-38), has something drastically wrong with his mindset. Thus, Shakespeare utilizes the establishment of Learââ¬â¢s flawed character to reveal the detrimental effect imperfect human nature can have on the issuing of justice. Shakespeare does so in including the senseless decree that Lear rashly issues: the virtuous Cordelia and loyal Kent shall be banished, and Learââ¬â¢s kingdom should be ... ...Lear states, ââ¬Å"Through tattered clothes small vices do appear. / Robes and furred gowns hide all. Plate sin with gold, / And the strong lance of justice heartless breaksâ⬠(4.6.180-83). Thus, only through madness is Lear able to see the rampant abundance of injustice present in the world caused by the abuse and negligence of the wealthy in power. The errant ââ¬Å"trialsâ⬠of King Lear all serve to illustrate the concept that human justice is inherently tainted by the natural human tendency to abuse power for selfish means. Furthermore, characters such as Gloucester who maintain a persistent faith in the divine justice of the gods are seen as fools in a world where the innocent are senselessly taken advantage of and ultimately killed. Thus, it seems that until the essential vices of human nature are eliminated, justice will remain shrouded, and evil will reign.

Justice and Injustice in Othello Essay -- Othello essays
Justice and Injustice in Othelloà à à à à In the Tragedy of Othello, by William Shakespeare, a great injustice is done to the main character, Othello the Moor. Othello is manipulated by the villain Iago to satiate Iagoââ¬â¢s need for control and his desire for revenge. Othello the General has promoted another, Cassio, to hold the position that Iago feels he deserves. For the injustice that Iago feels has been committed against him, he brings about the destruction of Othello and his wife, Desdemona, using Cassio as his tool for doing so. à Iago is the master villain in Othello, and is indeed a prototypal villain; that is, he is the mould for many other villains in their own deeds. He appears to be cunning, decisive, and able to take advantage of any set of circumstances. He moulds the people around him and his surroundings to suit his own ââ¬Å"peculiarâ⬠ends. Furthermore Iago appears to be a good and honest person to all involved parties until just before the close of the play. Everyone is his willing dupe. Every master villain attempts his level of excellence. à Iago, to achieve his revenge manipulates Othello into wrongfully suspecting his wife of infidelity, and makes him insane with jealousy, enough to kill her in his rage. Othello is the general of the city of Venice, and as foreigner, a dark-skinned Moor. Othello appears to be a ... ... everything possible to his advantage, even his reputation for honesty; for no more reason than that he was passed over for a promotion. We know that the noble Othello is fooled, and simultaneously feel sorry that such an honest man has been duped. Works Cited Snyder, Susan. A Study Of Depression And Relationships Essay -- essays research paper
A Study of Depression and Relationships A primary concern for Psychology research is depression. Depression affects a great deal of our population and many aspects of an individual's mental health and well-being. In my research of books, articles, and Internet pages on depression, I chose to base my paper mainly on a 1994 article of a study of depression, entitled Depression, Working Models of Others, and Relationship Functioning, by Katherine B. Carnelley, Paula R. Pietromonaco, and Kenneth Jaffe. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã This study focuses on the idea that the type of care received in childhood, positive or negative, has a great effect on relationship functioning later in adulthood. But there are two links between child-rearing and relationship functioning: attachment style and depression. Both derive from the type of care received in childhood and affect relationship functioning, and both exert a reciprocal influence on each other in adulthood. The researchers of this study wanted to examine all the correlation's between type of care, attachment style, depression, and relationship functioning. They proposed a three part hypothesis: 1. A less positive childhood would result in an insecure attachment style and depression, 2. Depressives would exhibit a preoccupied or fearful style of attachment, and 3. attachment style would affect relationship functioning more than depression. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã The research was conducted in two independent studies. The first study sampled 204 college women. Women were studied based on the very plausible assumptions that women are more susceptible to depression than men and relationships carry more significance with women than men. The women were screened using the Beck Depression Inventory, a popular method of testing consisting of 21 multiple choice questions to be administered by a clinician. The questions range in scope from feelings of sadness to loss of libido. From these results, a sample of 163 was taken: 73 whose scores indicated mild depression. From this point the researchers administered various inventories to assess the type of childhood care given, romantic attachment styles, and relationship functioning. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Depression appears to be the independent variable, because the sample was selected based on desired levels of depression. Once the distinction in levels of de... ...s is through hereditary. Almost 40-50 percent of the siblings of manic depressive's children also have a depression disorder. It is sometimes however hard to decipher between a normal teenager's mood swings, or a depression. People need to realize not to discriminate, and know that it is a treatable chemistry imbalance. If one's teenager is acting in a depressive state have them talk to a psychologist, and assure them nothing is wrong with them, and that it can only help. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã I chose to do my research on this given that I am manic depressive. I had recently broken up in a relationship, and this research helped to satisfy some curiosities. With this research I realize how much I have been helped, and it helped to explain some of my personality traits. Someone who has manic depression should definitely go in for help, and should realize the risk of not. The research shows that the interaction between relationship functioning, depression, and attachment style are attributable to early childhood. In other words, an individual's experiences in his or her formative years can have lasting psychological effects, up to the most basic social functions in adulthood.

Abortion research paper Essay
I believe abortion is wrong because human life begins at the time of conception between the union of the sperm and of the egg. I chose this topic for my research paper because I found this to be one of the most talked about and well known controversial topics there is. I also find it be extremely interesting and that there are so many relating arguments to abortion, which left me with multiple to chose from. There were several different viewpoints and I opinions I researched also corresponding with the topic and argument of certain aspects of abortion but picked this one to write about. Is the embryo considered human life when conceived? Or when the fetus reaches a certain milestone during pregnancy? Maybe when it moves around and shows full signs of life? believe it, or not, some people believe the baby is not considered to be alive until it is delivered at the hospital! See more: Old Age Problem essay I personally believe the baby is alive from conception, or even during the early stages of the quickening process, when you would start to feel the baby growing and moving and you can feel yourself becoming pregnant. I just donââ¬â¢t see how people could abort an innocent 9 month old child waiting to be bornâ⬠¦ but people do. One very popular and well known argument relating to abortion is that ââ¬Å" human life begins with the union of the sperm and ovum (egg) .â⬠well over 30 million abortions have been performed and took place in the US. Multiple researchers say that the fetus is a living organism and is living the very second in which it has been conceived. Researchers have several tests and a multitude of information and a vast spread of studies with lots of information to prove and show when life does begin, but still to many this day it is a ââ¬Ëpersonalââ¬â¢ opinion as to when life starts. ââ¬Å" A sperm has 23 chromosomes and no matter what even though it is alive it can fertilize an egg.â⬠ââ¬Å" An egg has 23 chromosomes just as a sperm does, when the two join together they total to 46 of their very own new chromosomes, they together create a brand new genetic chromosomal code unlike any other individual has ever had, unless of course (identical twins)â⬠. (Carolyn C. Gargaro ) The majority of American citizens in the United States of America are for the prolife side. This does not mean profilersââ¬â¢ are against having sex, or also against all womanââ¬â¢s rights or anything like that. It just shows that the majority just mostly believes the child in alive and living from as soon as the child was conceived in the womb. I personally, in my very own opinion do believe each woman does have a choice. However I am not agreeing with pro-choice because I support the side of pro-life for several reasons, but I personally do believe each and every woman out there does too have rights to what they want to do with their own body. I think of abortion occurring in any stage as an immoral murder and can be looked at as a form of genocide. I believe it is completely wrong, and life is too special to be taken from something so innocent who did not even have a chance, or for that matter was GIVEN the chance to live and experience life. ââ¬Å"People of the pro-life side stand up for the sacredness of life.â⬠Life begins at conception. Humans are created in the image and likeness of God. All human life is sacred. All human life possesses infinite value. ââ¬â I do agree fully with this statement because it is saying life is a privilege and having a child of your own is too a privilege. Several people cannot have children and would give anything to be able to. Some people who have died and, people who have lost close loved ones no longer have that privilege of life. The privilege that each and every day by multiple people truly goes un-noticed and overlooked by many. The problem of abortion in other countries is very close to non existent because ââ¬Å" in many countries abortion is not legal at anytime, though special cases might be made if there is a medical reason for abortion and doing the procedure would save the life of the mother.â⬠Other foreign countries look down at abortion just like the pro-life movement does. A lot of people are against abortion especially at later stages of pregnancy. I believe that life should certainly not be under any circumstances, taken for granted, there are so many other different options and other choices and ways of dealing with it rather than turning to abortion. I view abortion as almost an easy way out, a way of not being judged for having a child, a way of not having to work and support a child, a way of not having to give up and sacrifice everyday life for a new completely changed lifestyle. I think most people can be selfish and would rather not give up what they have and just live life without a child, especially when the pregnancy was not planned and may be looked upon as an accident. Like most teenagers, abortion is the easiest way out for most. Very often at the time people find out when the pregnancy is unplanned it that seems most practical and simple rather than waking up in the middle of the night to care for someone other than themselves, pay the bills, get a job, support someone new, give up plans on a Friday night to stay in and spend time with your own child, who was infact an accident. Instead of turning to abortion multiple couples would be more than willing to make that child their own. There are multiple programs that can provide counseling and also medical care, adoption, housing, job training, and school. Which are all services for anyone with an unplanned or even planned pregnancy who may have changed their minds. Just different ideas and alternatives instead of abortion. The conception of the baby doesnââ¬â¢t mean the child is ââ¬Å"aliveâ⬠and some believe it doesnââ¬â¢t start ââ¬Å"livingâ⬠until 3 months or maybe even later, some think that still only the moment it is delivered is when it comes to life. Some people believe the child hasnââ¬â¢t reached a certain point of development at the young stages therefore it doesnââ¬â¢t mean they are ââ¬Å"livingâ⬠most people do not care at all. The opposing side of the argument is that abortion is okay, it is accepted and that there is nothing wrong with it. Most abortions happen because of a careless mistake or because of different reasons such as mistakes, rape, or attention. Some people argue that they werenââ¬â¢t ready for the baby at the time of the conception therefore they aborted it until they were ready. Some people just say that they werenââ¬â¢t cut out to have children and werenââ¬â¢t planning on it. Some also say that they donââ¬â¢t have enough money for a child, others say that the relationship with the person they are with is completely unstable and it would not work out. Some people say rape is an acceptable excuse, and this I do agree with. Rape I believe is one condition where abortion should be tolerated. Throughout the process for researching the two opposing viewpoints of abortion I believe that personally I do still stand by my opinion which I had formed before the paper. The only new exception I have thought of is rape, or incest I believe for the sake of the baby. It would just be best if it was aborted. I donââ¬â¢t agree with carelessly doing it for no good reason like multiple Americans living in the United States today. I think that people who get abortions today are harshly judged, but the people who are against abortions are also viewed in a different way. I think a lot about being brought up a certain way has to do with it, dependent upon whether or not you do or donââ¬â¢t attend church or believe strongly in any type of faith. I agree with pro-life still today rather than abortion.

Human Resource Letter
Dear Ms. xxxxxx: As all Rite Aid policies, please consider this letter a formal complaint against Mrs. Maria Mejia for intimidation along with failing to pay proper wages. First and foremost, my name is blah blah and I was hired on December xx, 20xx as a supervisor at store # 1234. I am writing to express my disappointment with the company. I started with a high desire to work for a company that offered a high principle of ethics, honor, and respect for its employees. Now a little over two months later I am presenting my resignation. Unfortunately I was placed in a store that is very unorganized and not properly managed. Approximately three weeks after being hired I was given the responsibility of closing without the proper tools to do so. Yet, I ensured the daily tasks were completed to the best of my ability. Still, Mrs. xxx was rarely pleased with the outcome. On several occasions while she was instructing me of my duties she would use terms like ââ¬Å"you betterâ⬠, and also she would remind me that I was on a 90-day probation. I considered it unprofessional for her to use such phrases to intimidate me. I felt as if she was insinuating that she had control over me and she had the authority to fire me when she pleased. While giving orders her tone of voice was rarely polite. Mrs. Mejia has a recording of a discussion both her and I had, where she is giving me feedback and advise about my responsibilities, that day she was actually very courteous and polite. Though majority of the time while approaching her employees she tends to be very demanding. Most employees at this store would agree that they are unappreciated by her, and their accomplishments are almost never acknowledged. It is difficult to work with such an insatiable manager. Also, during the hiring process I was told that as a supervisor I was guaranteed 35 to 40 hours a week, the first two or three weeks there was no problem, however as I gained experience and more responsibility my hours were cut down to 25 hours a week. When I asked her if there was a reason why, she simply claimed that she has no payroll to ay for more hours. However certain non-management employees were give 40 hours or more. Constantly Mrs. Maria Mejia requests employees to come in on their days off or before their scheduled time due to her lack of organization and responsibility. On several occasions that included January 19, 2013 and January 29, 2013, I was asked to work without a lunch and I would be paid a lunch premium. To this date I have worked about 4 shifts without a lunch break and ha ve only been paid one lunch premium. I have been employed by Rite Aid for about over two months now and have not received my system log in, which causes me not being able to provide manager approvals and overrides for the employees. As a supervisor I am also aware that it is unlawful to have employees work of the clock, still Mrs. Mejia would ask me to have the employees work off the clock and she would fix their clock-in at a later time. Ms. Jxxxx Nxxxx and Mr. xxxx xxxxx have also witnessed the irresponsibility portrayed by the manager. On February 14, 2013 The aforementioned incidents have brought me mental anxiety, which has forced me to resign to my position. It is my opinion such behavior does not conform to Rite Aid policies of appropriate workplace behavior as set out in the companyââ¬â¢s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. I feel violated by Mrs. Mejiaââ¬â¢s behavior and believe that I have been mistreated. I am aware that lodging a complaint against Mrs. Maria Mejia will require a formal investigation and I am prepared to participate as needed. I appreciate your time and I apologize for the length of this letter, however I felt the need to express my uncomfortable experience. Ingvar Kampradi: Wealthy Man, Frugal Man, Entrepreneur Extraordinair
Introduction Ingvar Kamprad, Swedish born citizen and founder and former CEO of Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd or better known as IKEA. Kamprad created a one of a kind furniture company that has become the largest furniture store in the world. The uniqueness is because they company specializes in everything being able to be broken down and shipped, ââ¬Å"from furniture to the now famous mobile kitchens- could be packed in flat, stackable boxes (Nelson and Quick, 2011-438)â⬠. His way of running the company is based on creativity, hard work and being frugal in his own life as well as the way he runs his company. So frugal that when employees travel they must share hotel rooms, a policy not carried in any major company. The philosophies that he has developed for IKEA are distinctive and have provided a successful way of being very profitable. Kampradââ¬â¢s leadership characteristics have made him a very wealthy entrepreneur and admirable person but with a dark past. A pas t that he does not deny but states that he has learned from this and according to some has a message to send to other that carries great wisdom. Issues Addressed Kampradââ¬â¢s company IKEA has been on the rise along with that his personal problems also increased.Alcoholism, his history of Nazi affiliation, and store openings where people died were his biggest problems. Even during his personal problems he never failed to provide creativity for IKEA and to make sure the company was on the right track. He always found a way to lead his company in the direction to be successful despite his personal life. His appreciation for what it takes to be successful and the knowledge that he realizes ââ¬Å"there are no guarantees to economic success tomorrow apart from hard work (Nelson and Quick, 2011-438). Answering the Questions 1. Kamprad is the manager of IKEA, while he is not the CEO he still continues to run the company. He is always trying to create any new ideas, and develop philosop hies to make the company better for their customers and employees. Kamprad is a leader because: he does not sit around pointing fingers and collecting money, but he is out there working to make IKEA a better company every chance he can. Continuing his innovative efforts so the company can be ne of a kind and cater to the people and through all his personal problems and personal achievements the company was always placed at the top of the list; ââ¬Å"he likes to say that IKEA is his fourth child (Nelson and Quick, 2011-438). â⬠2. Kamprad encouraged a level of followership that has made IKEA a unique company. This followership that he created makes people want to work for IKEA and create new ideas. His philosophies are exceptional and out of the box; his claims of ââ¬Å"we dare to do it a different way (Nelson and Quick, 2011-438)â⬠Kamprad says about IKEA.The way he created IKEA and the way he makes sure the company draws people into being involved. People not only want to shop at his stores, but they want to be a part of the company anyway they can. 3. Kamprad does not want his employees to be sheep or yes men but effective active followers that are independent critical thinkers. Some of Kampradââ¬â¢s leadership characteristics are ââ¬Å"directive, supportive, participative and achievement oriented (Nelson and Quick, 2011- 413). According to the leadership grid Kamprad is deep in the 9, 1 quadrant which is ââ¬Å"Authority-Compliance management: efficiency in operations results from arranging conditions of work in such a way that human elements interfere to a minimum degree (Nelson and Quick, 2011- 409). â⬠4. Leadership of Kamprad â⬠¢Transactional ââ¬â uses effort for reward because how much effort employees put into the company, means how much reward they or the company will receive. â⬠¢Transformational ââ¬â motivates his people to work for the prosperity of the company and not just for themselves. His vision about IKEA helps bond his followers/ employees to IKEA. He is charismatic ââ¬â focusing on creating a message with his philosophies and connecting with his followers emotionally. â⬠¢Authentic ââ¬â role model towards the people due to his developing ingenuity and philosophies. 5. Key leadership lessons that can be observed by Kampradââ¬â¢s experiences: a. Creativity & uniqueness b. Hard manual work c. Work hard but work smart d. Delegate less and get more involved, do not be afraid to be different, and listen to my people. Conclusions Ingvar Kamprad developed very young starting his business; selling matches and cards from his bicycle and later expanding his business to elling fish, Christmas decorations and pens and pencils. This small town boy from went on to build a company from a cash reward given to him by his father for doing well in academics, Ingvar Kamprad built a company that generated ââ¬Å"more than $33 billion in revenue and nearly $4 billion in net income in 2011 ( http://topics. bloomberg. com/ingvar-kamprad/). â⬠He was known as a very frugal man that had a dark past but he learned from his past explaining that his Nazi affiliations where the greatest mistake of his life. He said this because while he was not proud of being affiliated with this organization he learned a lot from being part of it.He learned to not waist anything, do not take money for granted and keep in common the one thing all rich people have; which is to leave beneath your means. ?
